Ben Cohen’s ex-wife says she and Lisa Armstrong are ‘not a bitter wives club’

Ben Cohen's ex-wife Abby Cohen has formed a tight friendship with Ant McPartlin's ex Lisa Armstrong – but insists the pair are not in a 'bitter wives club'.

Abby got to know Lisa after the pair teamed up on the new online makeover show The Updaters.

They appeared to have bonded over their public breakdown of their long-term marriages to their famous exes, and consequently watching them move on with new partners.

But Abby, who saw Ben couple up with his Strictly Come Dance partner Kristina Rihanoff after he took part in the dancing contest 2013, said that the two women don't go out drowning their sorrows together.

The photographer told Woman Magazine that she had never met Lisa prior to the show, only getting to know her once they began to work together.

"We've had some tragic, similar situations but I don’t want it to be the 'bitter wives club' because that’s absolutely not how it is," Abby explained.

"Just because Lisa happens to have had a marriage breakdown like me, it doesn't mean we’re pals going out drinking every weekend because that’s not the case. We are there to do a job and we are doing it really well."

Lisa has been at the centre of a high-divorce battle with Britain's Got Talent host Ant for over a year, after he ended their 12-year marriage and has since moved on with new girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett.

She also works as a make-up artist on Strictly Come Dancing , the show in which serves as a raw reminder for Abby over the breakdown of her marriage just months after he left the show.

Abby and Ben – who were married for 11 years and together for 23 – saw their marriage crumble, becoming the eight couple to fall victim to the 'Strictly curse'.

Ben, who now shares a daughter with partner Kristina, has always insisted their relationship began after his split from Abby.

Abby has spoken in the past about how she hit rock bottom following the end of her marriage to the rugby player.

Abby, 38, mum of Ben's two kids, opened up about her pain last month as she promoted a new web series show she's working on, The Updaters.

The lifestyle photographer said she's going to use her heartache to help the contestants on the show, who get makeovers to improve their confidence.

She said: "I know from personal experience what it’s like to hit rock bottom and it's devastating.

"With wonderful family and friends I’ve built myself back up…"
