Amanda Mealing spoke out on Twitter as her alter ego Connie Beauchamp’s farewell was broadcast in Casualty. The actress said she was “struggling to see through the tears” as she thanked those she’d worked with.
I’m struggling to see through the tears
The 53-year-old only announced her sudden exit from the long-running BBC drama last month.
Her character was given a low-key goodbye, with it not being immediately clear it was the last we’d see of her.
However, Amanda previously announced her extrended break from the show to concentrate on other work.
Addressing her 59,000 followers, she tweeted following the broadcast: “What an amazing send off. Thank you, guys! Thank you.”
Sharing a snap of herself in a black tie and jeans, the mother-of-two hinted she’d be back.
Feeling emotional, the star wrote: “And relax… I’m struggling to see through the tears. Thank you for all the love.
#AuRevoir not goodbye. #17YearsOfConnie is a long time.”
Amanda didn’t stop there, filling the micro-blogging site with various messages to those who had been watching.
Alongside a snap of three colleagues, she replied after being told “we love you. Always”.
“My ladies!” Amanda said. “Thank you SO much for your endless love and support and especially your panache!
“I will never forget you.”
When one fan cheekily told her she was the “sexiest woman to appear on primetime TV”, she quipped: “That’s the one #17YearsOfConnie #Connie.”

Spotting her character’s first name was trending, Amanda reacted: “Wow! #Connie #17yearsOfConnie.”
She took time out to get back to series producer Loretta Preece, sharing her gratitude.
“Thank you, Loretta. Keep pushing those boundaries and making great drama #Casualty #17YearsOfConnie,” she stated.
When someone pointed out she’d been in 225 episodes during her most recent seven-year stint, Amanda was seemingly shocked.
“Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed. “I didn’t realise I’d done so many episodes.
“Thanks for that. A good number to go out on.”
On being told she “shined” on-screen and Connie was branded “an icon”, it all seemingly become too much for Amanda.
She added: “Oh! Please… you’re making me cry.”
Amanda also praised her on-screen daughter Emily Carey: “Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for the stunning, future A list Hollywood star, @TheEmilyCarey.
“My TV gorgeous daughter. I’m proud and honoured to have worked with you, sweetheart. Go get ‘em, girl!”
Before signing off: “That’s all from Mrs B. Thank you for the journey, the laughs and the love. You really are THE best fans #ConnieBeauchamp #QueenB.”
