Denise Van Outen reveals footballer sent her love note in first appearance since split

Denise Van Outen has revealed that a footballer once sent her a gushing love note as she opened up on her dating history just days after confirming she'd split from her fiancé of seven years, Eddie Boxshall.

The TV presenter made an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch on Monday 10 January where she chatted about her dating history on the Channel 4 programme.

Wearing a gorgeous white fluffy jumper and tartan miniskirt to brave the cold snap, Denise, 47, was all-smiles as she made a solo TV trip, following claims Denise had called it quits with her partner after she allegedly found out Eddie had been messaging other women.

During a segment about "quirky" ways to ask people out, the mum-of-one told host Steph McGovern that she once received a date invitation via a letter.

"I did get a letter under the door years ago when I was doing a BBC show – a very, very famous footballer slipped a note under my dressing room door," Denise said.

"Just before we went live on air – I can't say who it was."

Steph, 39, speculated whether the sportsman could have been David Beckham or John Terry, but Denise was emphatic she couldn't reveal the person in question.

"He was single at the time, which is unusual for a footballer," the guest continued. "He had very nice writing. It was quite a long letter, but I was already seeing someone."

The star went on to say there was also some awkwardness because she had to go on TV with him after.

She recalled how they were sat there on the show and he kept raising his eyebrows and looking at her suggestively.

It comes as Denise shared a statement explaining she and Eddie had broken up, accompanied by a black and white photo of herself walking her two French Bulldog pups Tilly and Remy on the beach.

"Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie," she captioned the post. "It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple. I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship."

"I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made," Denise continued. "We ask that you please respect our privacy at this time, especially for our children."

Denise's statement followed reports that she had allegedly found messages to other women on Eddie's phone while they were together.

"Denise is both furiously angry and utterly heartbroken," a source told The Sun. "It’s the very last thing she expected to happen after she had been so happy with Eddie.

"She thought this was forever. But while she has been out at work he’s been sat in her home betraying her trust," they claimed.
