AJ Pritchard was a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last year after quitting Strictly Come Dancing. In a new interview, the 27-year-old recalled his time on the show and revealed what he claims viewers don’t always get to see.

The professional dancer said good friendships are made in camp, but this isn’t always shown.

He spilled: “One thing that is really hard to get across is that you have such great conversations and really get to know each other in about ten minutes in there, because the distraction of having a mobile phone in your hand is removed.

“They don’t show that on TV, so you can’t really see we had a great time, but no-one sees it.”

The Strictly star added to OK! Magazine: “It’s the secret about why people get connected emotionally and as a group but you can’t see that on TV, so it’s a really hard one to get across.”

AJ made friends with the likes of Vernon Kay, Jordan North and Mo Farrah during his time on the show.

While most of the 2020 cast seemed to get along, he and Shane Ritchie had a brief clash about the washing up.

AJ confronted the actor about the dirty cutlery and bowls and later said in the Telegraph: “If you do a job too well you get given a job, don’t you?

“I’m happy with my role. Yeah, I don’t know why I’m talking high pitched, but I’m happy.”

After leaving the show, Shane shut down claims they didn’t get on.

“That is just nonsense. I don’t know where that has come from,” he said on This Morning.

“He was teaching me to dance. He would give me a one-to-one. We had some great chats.”

Discussing this year’s series, AJ said Richard Madeley and Frankie Bridge were the ones to watch.

The dancer made his predictions ahead of the news that Richard had to leave the camp yesterday.

After feeling unwell during the night, the presenter had to to be checked out by medical staff.

As a result of leaving the castle, he broke his Covid bubble and wasn’t allowed to return.

He said in a statement: “Richard here – firstly just to say that I’m absolutely FINE. I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was taken to hospital as a precaution. By leaving the camp, I had consequently broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such I’ve had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the camp.

“Obviously I’m gutted to be leaving so soon but the safety of all the campmates is the number one priority. I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue…even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but completely unforgettable adventure – I’ve made some great friends and honestly had the time of my life.”
