James Martin, 48, regularly entertains viewers with his various culinary cuisines and delicacies. But the TV chef was in for a surprise after he was joined by classical singer Russell Watson, 53, who appeared on the show last week.
As James got stuck into preparing a dish, he quizzed the British tenor on his latest move away from music.
Russell revealed he had a newfound love for cooking up dishes while at home.
James expressed his fears that the opera singer was good enough to “take over his job” on the cooking programme.
“You’ve been keen to do something like this,” the ITV chef said to Russell.
“I’ve been following you on social media and I’ve been thinking, ‘You’re about to take over my job!'”
James then warned viewers, saying: “If you don’t believe me, check this out.”
Saturday Morning cut to a VT of Russell putting together his own signature Shepherd’s Pie while cooking at home.
In the clip, Russell explained: “We have this wonderful Shepherd’s Pie. Beautiful lean mince, wonderful chopped onions, finely diced carrots.
“It’s all in there, a few peas as well. A little bit of cumin to give it that extra flavour as well.
“And now it’s time to pop it in the oven.”
In the second clip, the opera singer took his cooked meal out of the oven and showcased the final result.
“It’s done,” he mused. “Look at that beauty. My beautiful Shepherd’s Pie, look at that.”

As they returned to James’ kitchen, he chuckled: “You see. At least one thing is for sure, my job’s safe. That’s a good thing.”
Russell joked: “It’s got rather hot in here.”
However, it appears that the singer has no plans to front a cooking programme at the moment.
Meanwhile, James took to Twitter and expressed his sadness following the latest coronavirus restrictions.
The TV chef explained that he has to close his restaurant in Manchester for a second time following the new tier lockdown restrictions.
In view of his 688,000 followers, James retweeted an official statement from the restaurant.
It read: “All the team at James Martin Manchester are sad to have to close again as Manchester responds to the Tier 3 COVID level.
“We have enjoyed welcoming customers back over the last few weeks. We will continue to monitor the situation.”
James Martin’s Saturday Morning airs today on ITV at 9.30am.
