Korean actress Song Yoo-jung dies aged 26

Korean actress Song Yoo-jung has died aged 26.

The star’s agency, Sublime Artist Agency, confirmed the sad news in a statement reading: ‘Actress Song Yoo-jung departed this life on January 23, 2021.

‘In accordance with the wishes of her family, the funeral was held quietly, and the funeral procession takes place on January 25.

‘Yoo-jung was a friend who always gave us happiness with a bright smile, and an awesome actress who acted with a passion bigger than anyone.

‘Please pray for the repose of her soul so that she may rest in peace in a warm place.’

Her cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Song had not posted on Instagram since December 30 2020, with fans leaving ‘rest in peace’ messages on her final picture.

Song first bagged her big break in modelling in 2013, landing a gig with Estée Lauder.

In the same year, she made her TV debut in the drama Golden Rainbow, in which she played Kim Chun-won.

The following year, she starred on another MBC show, Make Your Wish, and starred on the KBS show School 2017.

Her final role came in the 2019 web series Dear My Name, in which she played an architecture student searching for her soul mate.

Song also modelled for brands including Baskin-Robins and Heart Percent, and last year appeared in Standing Egg’s video for their song From Friends To Lovers.

Outside of her work in entertainment, Song was an advocate for people with disabilities, and served as an ambassador for a South Korean group called Warm Accompaniment.
