Peter Kay, 48, has kept out of the spotlight since late 2017 when he cancelled his tour. Now the comedian has confirmed he will be returning to the stage for a new event next month.
The Car Share comedian has broken his social media silence after last posting at the end of 2020.
He’s now confirmed he’ll be back on stage with two special live shows.
Taking place next month, he’ll be taking part in two Q&A events at the Manchester 02 Apollo on August 7.
These are in honour of Laura Nuttall who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme in October 2018.
Tickets for the special shows will be going on sale on Friday, July 30.
This will mark Peter’s first public appearance since 2017.
He stepped back from the public eye in December of that year as he cancelled his 14-month tour.
At the time, he said this was due to “unforeseen family circumstances”.
He penned: “Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.
‘My sincerest apologies… I’m sure you’ll understand that my family must always come first.
“I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media.
“I hope that the media and the public continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again, I’m very sorry.”
Since then, Peter has been out of the spotlight apart from an appearance during Cat Deeley’s Radio 2 show.
He called in during her debut for a catch-up with his old friend.
Fans were left excited by the news Peter will be returning to the spotlight for the show.
One replied: “So so thrilled Mr Kay is back performing, even if I can’t go lol.”
Another penned: “So excited. Me, Husband and bump WILL be there!!! Xx.”
A third wrote: “Good to see you back on track .. hope all is well xx.”
“He’s back, he’s back, I can not cope,” said a fourth fan. (sic)
Laura’s mother also penned about the news: “Still can’t believe this actually happening!
“So incredibly grateful to Peter for doing this and just cannot wait for August 7th.”
