Ryan Reynolds has opened up about the last conversation he shared with the late Alex Trebek.
During a new interview, the 44-year-old actor shared that the conversation they had was very bittersweet as the Jeopardy! host had asked him to come on the show one more time to deliver clues for a category.
Ryan has done this before a few times, with many of the instances reading clues about Canadians.
“It was a conversation about one of the shows he had coming up. I had been on the show a number of times, he was asking me about perhaps coming on again,” Ryan shared. “I was shooting in Atlanta and was unable to do it…When you speak with people like that that you grew up watching and suddenly you are talking to them on the phone, you start to reflect.”
Ryan added, that he didn’t realize it would be the last time they would speak.
“You just never know; tomorrow is not a given. Hug them tight, the people in your life. It was really shocking and sad,” he says. “Obviously, he was sick and it wasn’t totally, wildly unexpected. It’s still heartbreaking nonetheless. It’s absolutely gut-wrenching.”
Alex sadly passed away earlier this month after a long battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer, and just afterwards, Ryan remembered him in a touching tribute.
