Rylan Clark-Neal has said he's in a "bad place" as he broke his silence following reports of his separation from husband Dan Neal.

Supermarket Sweep host Rylan, 32, admitted he made a "number of mistakes" which he "deeply regrets" as he opened up, after it was claimed he had parted ways from his husband Dan.

Rylan said: "Following reports about Dan and I spending time apart, I feel have to speak out as the way it is being reported is unfair.

"I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage."

Rylan added he is "seeking help" and explained his ongoing break from his Radio 2 show, which left fans concerned.

He added to The Sun: "I have taken time away from work as I am not in a good place at the moment and am seeking help.

"I am trying to take each day at a time and would like to say thank you to everyone for their support and for respecting our privacy at this time."

It comes after it was reported he and Dan had separated, as a source told the publication: "Rylan’s one of the most beloved people on TV so fans will be sad to hear what has happened.

"He often spoke of their relationship on air and they even co-hosted an episode of This Morning but unfortunately things haven’t worked out.

"They don’t want to discuss it in public and a bit of time off is probably for the best for now."

Rylan and his Big Brother husband Dan got engaged in 2014, after first meeting on Big Brother's Big on the Side the year before.

The couple wed in November 2015 in a ceremony which was kept very much out the public eye.

Last year, Rylan told OK! that lockdown was "strange" for himself and husband Dan.

The presenter admitted: "It has been strange because we're both used to working so much. We're not used to spending this much time at home and it's made me realise, as much as I love going to work and I miss doing what I do, it's actually been nice to have this time.

"I don't think anyone gets that time any more in this day and age."

Rylan went on to share: "So we've just tried to look at the positives, although of course there have been major negatives for many people."
