The pair teased the surprise collaboration on social media less than 24 hours before they were due on stage at the O2 arena for the Brit Awards.
Elton John shared a teaser of the collaboration on his Instagram feed with “It’s” written on a brightly coloured background, with Years and Years sharing the word “A” in an identical font of their feed.
The announcement was completed when the official Brit Awards Instagram page then posted the word “Sin” on their feed, showing the epic reach of the trio for their highly anticipated performance on the awards night.
The Tiny Dancer hitmaker reportedly agreed to take to the stage with Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander after he became a huge fan after watching his performance as Ritchie Tozer in Channel 4 drama It’s A Sin.
A source told The Sun: “Elton and Olly have become unlikely pals and when the idea was floated that they should perform together on the night they jumped at it.
“It has been a last-minute decision and it is all being kept hush hush so there will be a surprise for viewers, but they have been working hard to put on something special.”
