Kamala wears necklace to inauguration by US brand selling diamond cannabis ring for £11k

Joe Biden inauguration: Kamala Harris sworn into office

Kamala wore a stunning gold and pearl necklace from Wilfredo Rosado, a high fashion fine jewellery company specialising in pearls. The company is known for pushing the boundaries of fine jewellery with graphic, street style designs.

The Vice President wore a bespoke version of the company’s Pearl Haute Joaillerie necklace.

The piece features 12 large pearls set in gold links, with the brand stating: “The combination of an elliptical link chain necklace with delicate South Sea pearls and brilliant diamonds floating between the links makes for a bold yet feminine statement.”

However, Kamala’s version was rendered in platinum or white gold.

The brand declared its pride in providing jewellery to the VP.

On its website it posted a statement: “Making history…we are honoured that Vice President Kamala Harris wore W.Rosado for the momentous occasion fo her inauguration as the first female Vice President of the United States.”

The company, based in New York, has links to famous US artist Andy Warhol, with founder Rosao claiming to be a protege of the pop art legend.

Rosado has worked with the likes of Mariah Carey and Rihanna.

His website describes his work as “a seamless blend of master craftsmanship and modern style that exuded a sexy, yet sophisticated edge.”

One of the pieces on the W.Rosda website embodying this irreverent style is a ring featuring a huge pearl and diamonds, with a cannabis ring taking centre stage.

The piece, seeing for around £11,300, ins made with 18k white gold and has a total of 1.59 carats of white diamonds.

When designing Kamala’s necklace, Rosado told WWD he “thought about a woman as the first female vice president elected, who is also a person of color — that’s history.

“I love her strength, there is a feminine aspect of it that made me want to add a bit of glamour to that moment, so there is a special movement to the necklace.”

White the necklace Kamala wore a purple ensemble by Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson.

With it she wore classic Manolo Blahnik heels in a BB 105 style.

She wore a flag pin crafted by another New York jewellery company David Yurman.

Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama matched their outfits in a symbolic inauguration gesture.

The women wore purple, one of the colours associated with the Suffragette movement.

Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, chose a plum outfit that featured wide-leg trousers, a turtleneck and a belt by Sergio Hudson.

Former First Lady Melania Trump also made somewhat of a statement, changing from sombre black to leave the White House into a stunning and colourful £3,000 Gucci dress to land at her home in Florida.

The dress was a 70s inspired design, perhaps reflecting Melania’s relaxed state of mind as she returned to Mar-a-Lago.

She also swapped her sky-high Christian Louboutins for a more comfortable pair of black flats.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Melania’s bold dress.
