The 90s fleece is back in fashion – here is where to buy the best

There are certain trends from the 90s that should never return. Skinny eyebrows, overalls and chokers are just some that immediately spring to mind.

However, every once in a while, the wheel of fashion brings back a winner like the humble fleece.

The quarter-zip fleece was a mainstay of the 90s. Worn with baggy jeans and trainers, it was the uniform for the angsty youth of the time. Yet somewhere along the way, the fleece was left behind and worn only on hiking trips. People wanted leather jackets and excitement, not soft hoodies and warmth.

Eventually, the fleece made the odd appearance at a festival but it wasn’t on the fashion radar – until now.

The year 2020 has thrown all fashion rules out the window. Our approach to how we dress has wholly changed. With nowhere to go, we are turning to comfort dressing for those style highs. Instead of tight dresses and high heels in our shopping baskets, it’s exclusively lounge sets and slippers.

And so, it was perfect timing for the fleece to reappear.

Wear over jeans and Converse for your daily walk, with leather leggings and combat boots while working from home, or simply slip one on over your PJs on days when the heating is slow to kick in.

From ASOS to Topshop, the choice is endless and here are the best to shop right now.
