90 Day Fiancé returns to TLC for season 8 on Dec. 6, 2020, at 8 p.m. EST. One of the most-anticipated couples returning for 90 Day Fiancé season 8 is Mike Youngquist (from Sequim, WA) and Natalie Mordovtseva (from Kyiv, Ukraine).
Mike and Natalie, both 35, first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season 7. They struggled to connect due to visa delays and explosive arguments about everything from religious differences to cheating accusations. Two 90 Day Fiancé sneak peeks suggest that the couple’s relationship didn’t get any less tumultuous after their first season.
Mike admitted he was now ‘cautious’ about his relationship with Natalie
In an exclusive ET sneak peek of the 90 Day Fiancé season 8 premiere, Mike reflected on his rollercoaster of a relationship with Natalie. He admitted that he’d seen her with rose-colored glasses at first. Now, he wasn’t so sure what to think.
After Natalie accused Mike of cheating on her with his female best friend, she told him she couldn’t trust him. The couple even broke up for a time, but they found their way back to each other. Still, for Mike, those issues had never been completely resolved.
“I would not cheat on Natalie,” Mike insisted in the 90 Day Fiancé preview. “But the last couple of months, I have processed a lot of it. I’ve done a lot of thinking and we’ve done a lot of talking. There’s been a lot of hard talking, and there’s been good talks in there too as well…But what she did really made me take a big step back and made me really, really kind of cautious.”
He added that he and Natalie were still trying to work on things – and with her K-1 visa application still on hold, he felt they had plenty of time to figure out what they really wanted to do.
He even had mixed emotions about Natalie’s K-1 visa approval
As it turned out, Natalie and Mike didn’t have as much time to resolve their problems before she arrived in the U.S. as they might have believed. After several delays, Natalie called Mike with big news.
“I got my visa,” the 90 Day Fiancé star told Mike, nervously glancing at him on FaceTime to gauge his reaction.
A smile initially flicked across Mike’s face – after all, this was what they’d been waiting for – but then it disappeared.
“Are you happy?” Natalie asked her visibly uncertain-looking fiancé.
“I feel happy, excited,” Mike said cautiously. “At the same time, I don’t know. I wasn’t prepared to hear this right now.”
Natalie was understandably disappointed at Mike’s reaction, but he told 90 Day Fiancé producers he had too many remaining doubts to feel sheer excitement.
Telling TLC producers that he had a “ton of emotions in that moment, good and bad,” he explained that he’d been looking forward to this day for so long. But now that it had arrived, he wasn’t sure quite how to feel. Their ongoing “problems and issues,” he explained, made him take pause.
Natalie threatened to leave Mike and fly back to her home country before their wedding
In another 90 Day Fiancé season 8 sneak peek from Us Magazine, Natalie wept as she hastily packed her bag to return to her home country. She didn’t explain what had happened, but she seemed dead-set on fleeing the U.S.
“I will fly to Europe, and from there, I will figure out how to get home,” Natalie told TLC producers, her voice choking with sobs. “I don’t know honestly yet how.”
Covering her face with her hands, Natalie admitted that she was scared of traveling during the COVID-19 crisis, especially at a crowded airport on an international flight. “It’s f*cking scary, and it’s not ok,” she exclaimed.
Still, the 90 Day Fiancé star insisted that what Mike had done (which remained a mystery) to hurt her left her no choice but to leave immediately.
“But I also think that a man who does this to me does not love me,” she asserted, adding ominously: “This is my last day in America.”
