Best Projector Screens 2020 | The Sun UK

IF YOU'VE already found the best projector, you’ll need to pair it with the best projector screen.

This screen needs to be large enough to suit whichever event or room it’s in; it needs to be easy to install and you want it to be made of a material that shows off your content in the best possible way.

With this in mind, we’ve used customer reviews and expert opinion to discover which is the best projector screen for schools, offices, home theatres and even outside.

Some are portable, others can be controlled via remote control, and we’ve highlighted those which come in a variety of sizes.

Bear in mind that the quality of your image will also be determined by the quality of your projector and the format of the content, so there’s no point buying a super expensive screen if you’re only going to be projecting low-res footage.

Nor should you scrimp on buying an expensive screen if you want to watch 4K.

1. Elite Screens VMax2 100-inch 16:9

  • Elite Screens VMax2 100-inch 16:9, £560.75 from Amazon – buy here

Elite Screens is a leading US brand and while its best projector screens are a little hard to come by in the UK, they are often available on Amazon and, if you can pick one up, it'll be worth the effort.

For our pick of the best projector screens we’ve selected the 100-inch Elite VMax2 model.

Made from the leading MaxWhite FG material, this matte white screen has a textured surface designed to boost colour clarity and detail anywhere in its 180-degree wide viewing angle.

As a result, this screen can not only handle 4K UHD but also 3D content with ease, in a 16:9 format.

It’s backed by fibreglass to give it a solid, yet lightweight, structure and drops up to 49 inches.

This screen can be hung from a wall or ceiling and comes with a detachable three-way wall switch.

It additionally ships with infrared and radio frequency remotes.

2. Duronic FPS

  • Duronic FPS, £139.99 from Amazon – buy here

If it’s a free-standing projector screen you’re after, the Duronic FPS is easy to set up, portable and won’t break the bank.

Its frame comes with rotating feet making it perfect to wheel into different rooms or change its position and the screen can be collapsed down into its built-in metal carry case to make it easy to transport around.

The screen itself is made from white double-sided canvas and is suitable for 3D and HD content.

This isn’t the lightest of screens (coming in at 13kg with its base/carry case and wheels), but it’s durable and perfect for presentations or in schools.

Its 100-inch model has a drop of 80 inches. The Duronic FPS additionally comes in 60- and 80-inch sizes, in either 16:9 or 4:3.

3. QualGear QG-PS-FF6-169-110-W

  • QualGear QG-PS-FF6-169-110-W 16:9 110-Inch, £224.36 from Amazon – buy here

At the more expensive end of the market is QualGear's 110-inch, 16:9 ultra fixed frame projector screen.

The price is justified by the fact the screen is made from high-quality white fabric with 1.2 gain, meaning the same brightness is provided from all viewing angles.

The screen also has a luxurious 6-cm fixed frame screen assembled with high-quality aluminium frame and wrapped in a premium black velvet fabric to absorb over-projected light.

The projector screen also comes with fabric tensioners to keep the fabric wrinkle-free. This way, the fabric is always kept stretched and tight all around the frame.

To facilitate installation, the screen's kit includes a wall hanging brackets to hold the projector screen frame close to the wall from four points.

This also allows you to slide the projector screen horizontally either way for a perfectly centred placement on the wall.

4. KHOMO GEAR Inflatable Theater Projector Screen

  • KHOMO GEAR Inflatable Theater Projector Screen, £299.99 from Amazon – buy here

An entirely different cup of tea, this projector screen stands on a league of its own.

It is not clear why someone should pick this over a traditional free-standing projector screen, but the kids will absolutely love it.

In addition, this inflatable screen truly is portable when it's collapsed. Sure it weighs almost 10 kg, but a carrier bag is included in the package, and it only takes 5 minutes to inflate the whole thing via the provided electric blower.

In terms of dimensions, this is a 187-inch screen, so you'll need a big garden to use it, but it will be probably worth it.

Of course, the KHOMO GEAR Inflatable Theater Projector Screen costs more than traditional projectors in this size and price range, but you pay for originality here.

The quality of the screen itself is generally good, but some Amazon users have lamented a partial colour distortion due to the screen fabric's colour.

5. GoFree Portable Projector Screen

  • GoFree Portable Projector Screen, £9.85 from Malkaw – buy here

If you’re after a cheap and cheerful way to showcase holiday snaps, broadcast video for an event or watch a film while on a camping trip, the GoFree Portable Projector Screen is your best choice.

It’s incredible value for money, coming in at just £9.85 for a 100-inch, 16:9 screen capable of displaying 4K content.

The screen is thicker than others in this list, but this means it can be used to project images on both sides of the screen at the same time.

Its weight, and the fact it’s made from anti-crease polyester, also makes it less likely to wrinkle when folded.

The screen comes with hooks and double-sided tape for easy installation, or you can use nails and ropes to attach it to trees, windows and more.
