Dolores Catania is still enamored by being a “Housewife” five years into the drama-filled gig.
Catania, 50, joined “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” in its seventh season in 2016 and told Page Six in a recent interview that she has no regrets as its current season — Season 11 — unfolds.
“I have a blueprint for life. I have my principles and I have morals and values that I don’t deviate from, even if it’s not the popular decision,” she said. “And then I can’t regret it. It’s not always the easiest, but I’ve never regretted doing what I thought was right.”
Catania recently found herself giving advice to Jennifer Aydin, who had confided to Melissa Gorga that she heard a rumor that Gorga’s husband, Joe, owed a mutual friend thousands of dollars from his Grow with Gorga event. Catania pushed Aydin to let Gorga in on what she had heard, telling us, “Once it’s put in your lap, now you have to do something about it.”
“Life is like that,” she added. “Things will fall in your lap and you have to decide — your true character is how you decide how to handle it. We’re all faced with that all the time. So if Jennifer didn’t handle it, I would have, because now I know — now it’s my information. And whether it’s going to be ‘kill the messenger’ or not, I still have to do what I think is right.”
The mom of two, who has been friends with Teresa Giudice and the Gorgas for decades, told us that she’s also fine with having joined the show later in its run, after making cameo appearances in the earlier seasons.
“I have so much more to offer now,” she said. “I’ve experienced life in so many different ways, and I like being able to share that with younger girls who can maybe learn from my mistakes or my stories or my experiences.”
Still, it doesn’t make watching the show any easier for her.
“Every single fight is hard. It’s hard to watch because it’s real. It’s not scripted,” she said. “We’re so close and we go through so much together and the stress of it — it’s not easy. A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, I want to be a ‘Housewife.” But, you know, it’s not what you think it is. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it’s not the easiest job to do.”
“The Real Housewives of New Jersey” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
