Girl, 16, dies after ‘taking ecstasy at party’ as two other teens hospitalised

A 16-year-old girl has died and two other teenagers are in hospital after being taken ill at a party in Glasgow.

Tragic Chelsea Bruce died after collapsing in the early hours of Sunday.

Chelsea was found collapsed on the ground and two other men, aged 16 and 18, were hospitalised.

It's believed the youngsters had taken ecstasy at the party, the Daily Record reports.

In a statment Chelsea's heartbroken family said: "Words cannot express the utter devastation and loss we feel that our beloved, beautiful Chelsea has been taken from us in such tragic circumstances.

"She was our wee angel and had her whole life in front of her. 

"Everyone loved her. 

"She was an incredibly kind, loving and generous girl who was always smiling. 

"We do not wish to comment further and ask that our privacy is respected at this terrible time."

A police spokeswoman told the Daily Record: "Police and emergency services were called after a 16-year-old girl took unwell at a flat on Fernbank Street in Springburn at around 2.30am. 

"She was taken by ambulance to GRI where she died a short time later. 

"A post-mortem will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of her death.

"At this time police are not treating the death as suspicious and enquiries are continuing. 

"Two male youths aged 16 and 18 were also in the flat and felt unwell. 

"They were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where they remain for observation."
