- Meghan Markle, 38, has reportedly started negotiations with top fashion brands
- Among names include Givenchy – the brand who designed her wedding dress
- It comes after she and Prince Harry vowed to become ‘financially independent’
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have vowed to become ‘financially independent’ after stepping back as ‘senior’ royals, and the duchess has already started negotiations with top fashion brands, a source has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex, 38, has had a powerful influence on the fashion industry since becoming a member of the FIRM when she married Prince Harry in May 2018.
And it seems she may already be in talks with luxury fashion brands as she begins to initiate her future career plans outside of the Royal Family.
‘Meghan is very connected in the fashion industry and there are a lot of major labels who would like to partner with her on projects,’ a source said, speaking to The Sun.
‘There have already been active discussions with Givenchy. Some of these deals could be worth millions of pounds.’

Reunited: Meghan honoured her bridal gown designer during the The Fashion Awards 2018, while Waight Keller thanked the royal personally in her speech at the star-studded awards ceremony at the historic venue in Kensington, London
‘I’m sure she is going to link some of the initiatives to their foundation.’
Since Meghan, who will split her time between the UK and North America with husband Harry, stepped into the public eye as a royal, it’s been all eyes on her stylish wardrobe.
The mother-of-one released her sell-out Smart Set charity collection in September with the charity, of which she is patron – and her outfits have since inspired trends and new ranges across the nation.
But it’s alleged Meghan is utilising her strong fashion contact book to help cash in on fame, with the potential to make millions while doing so – with French fashion house Givenchy among the names.
The minimalist wedding gown designed for the Duchess by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy – which won the designer tonight’s celebrated British Designer of the Year Womenswear Award – had a boat neck framing Ms Markle’s shoulders and a five metre long white silk veil which included floral detail representing all 53 countries of the Commonwealth
‘The ultimate surprise!’ Clare Waight Keller took to Instagram following the ceremony, gushing: ‘Such an extraordinary moment of emotion and love for this amazing woman who changed my life thank you @givenchyofficial’

It seems the Duchess of Sussex has a close friendship with Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy, as back in December 2018, the royal stunned the fashion crowd by putting in a surprise appearance at the British Fashion Awards.
She wowed guests at the star-studded event when she stepped out on stage to present a gong to her wedding dress designer, Ms Waight Keller, 48, at the Royal Albert Hall, wearing a beautiful black one-shoulder dress that is believed to have been designed by the very woman she was there to honor.
Clare won the prestigious British Womenswear Designer of the Year award and thanked Meghan personally in her speech at the star-studded awards ceremony at the historic venue in Kensington, London.
The designer said: ‘This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.’
Reports about embarking on fashion talks come after it was revealed Harry and Meghan trademarked their Sussex Royal brand on more than 100 items including pencils, socks and bookmarks more than six months ago.
The couple, who have an estimated £34million private fortune to fund their new life, can make even more with various business ventures such as book deals, TV deals, public speaking and fashion and brand partnerships.
