For the demonstration, Carolina purposely wrote ‘hello’ on the front of a white t-shirt then applied a generous amount of hand sanitiser over the ink and scrubbed the gel into the fabric with an electric toothbrush.
She then placed the shirt in the washing machine with half a cup of baking soda in the barrel and white cleaning vinegar in the rinse cycle.
It’s essential to wash the t-shirt on a hot cycle in order to remove the stain from the fabric, and Carolina said the wash can be repeated if necessary.
‘This should get you out of trouble,’ she wrote and revealed the ink had been removed from the t-shirt.
Within 24 hours of sharing the cleaning hack the video was viewed more than 29,000 times and left TikTok users amazed.
‘Going to try this today,’ one person wrote in the comments, and others tagged friends.
It’s thought the alcohol in the hand sanitiser lifts ink easily, and combining with the natural products is the best pairing.
Baking soda and vinegar are commonly used together to kill unwanted bacteria from laundry.
