When I told my family, they threw me out.
I thought at least my mum would be sympathetic. She slapped me and called me crazy.
They refuse to call me by my chosen name, Amanda, and say I should have picked a gender-neutral name.
I’ve been waiting years for an appointment at a gender clinic and have no support at all.
In fact, my parents just keep telling me to drop this transgender nonsense and that I’m shaming the family.
