“Protective” Prince William is more upset at the allegations slung at wife Kate Middleton during the bombshell Oprah Winfrey TV special than anything aimed at him, according to a royal biographer.

William’s sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, insisted that Middleton left her in tears before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry — and repeatedly griped about how her fellow duchess got more favorable press.

She even brought up a long-forgotten negative nickname for Middleton — “Waity Katie,” from the time before William proposed in 2010 –while insisting her sister-in-law had it comparatively easy.

“William is very protective of Kate and can get very angry,” Penny Junor, who has written biographies of both Harry and William, told People magazine.

“For Meghan to name Kate in a negative light is worse than being attacked himself,” she insisted of William.

During the interview, Harry admitted he and William were on “different paths” and suggested he felt pity for his brother being “trapped” inside the royal institution that he managed to escape.

The whole interview — which included claims of alleged racism in the monarchy — created widespread “anger” among royals and their staff, a Buckingham Palace source told People mag.

“There were genuinely mixed emotions and deep sorrow and shock there too,” the insider said.
