Secret sadness behind Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson’s incredible friendship

Since appearing on Big Brother, Alison Hammond and pal Josie Gibson have become two of the most iconic daytime TV stars.

The bubbly pair shot to fame on the 00s show but have since worked hard carving out their own successful careers in showbiz.

Josie, 37, and Alison, 47, appeared on different seasons of the show but became very close working on This Morning, and often give fans a glimpse into their off-screen friendship on social media.

In the most recent post, Josie shared how much they love hanging out with a sweet snap of her and four-year-old son Reggie with Alison and her son Aiden, 17, beaming in front of the TV on Christmas Day.

This year Josie hosted Alison at her Bristol home on the 25th where they looked relaxed and happy posing with some Christmas telly in the background.

She captioned the post: “Merry Crimbo and lots of love from me and Alison Hammond and our babies.”

Alison showed how much she appreciates Josie by replying: “You smashed it in the kitchen today babs, thanks for a wonderful day xx”

Even Dr Scott Miller, the vet on This Morning, gushed over their friendship in the comments, adding: “Love it when you girls get together with your boys! Big love to you all, Dr S xx”

It’s thought their beautiful friendship was cemented by how much they leant on each other during their hard times.

Despite a seemingly-glam lifestyle, the pair have both dealt with heartache behind the scenes.

In 2020 Alison announced the sad news that her dad Clifford passed away.

The star shared a photo of Clifford and spoke about hr upset at not being able to attend his funeral in Jamaica because of the Coronavirus restrictions at the time.

The shocking news came just four months after she lost her mum to liver and lung cancer.

At the time, her pal Josie stepped in for her, hosting This Morning to give Alison a break to spend time with her family.

Josie has also relied on Alison to get her through some tough times, revealing in posts on Instagram to her 335,000 followers that Alison is ‘her hero’ and rock in tough times.

In February Josie sat in for Dermot O Leary and presented alongside her friend, crediting her new found confidence to her best friend.

She wrote: “What an honour to sit alongside my hero today. Alison you are so very special. You bring so much joy to people’s lives including mine. You are beautiful inside and out.

“You championed me, pushed me to places I was scared to go and made me laugh along the way.”

In another post she said: “When I feel rubbish she makes me feel golden. She has this energy that lifts everyone’s spirits. She makes you believe in yourself and dreams.”
