MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly rejected Inter Milan's offer of Ivan Perisic plus cash for Romelu Lukaku.

New Inter boss Antonio Conte has made Lukaku, 26, one of his top targets this summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim he is so desperate to land the Belgian that he has proposed sending Croatia star Perisic, 30, the other way as part of a swap deal.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has apparently already turned down the approach as United hold out on more than £62million for their striker.

However, SunSport understands the Red Devils would only allow Lukaku to leave should they recoup the £75m they paid Everton two years ago.

Perisic has been repeatedly linked with United over the past few seasons and was No1 on Jose Mourinho's wishlist during his time in charge.

Mourinho was even said to be baffled by United chief executive Ed Woodward's decision to splash out on Lukaku ahead of the Inter winger.

It now looks likely that Lukaku, who has played second fiddle to Marcus Rashford under Solskjaer, will be part of an Old Trafford overhaul this summer.

WITH Jose Mourinho linked to becoming the new Newcastle manager, he will already be fantasising about chopping and changing the Toon squad.

The former Man United boss is the No1 choice for billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan who is aiming to buy the club from Mike Ashley.

Terms have been agreed and the Bin Zayed Group told SunSport a proof of funds statement was sent to Ashley's lawyers in April.

It would provide Mourinho with a big budget for the summer transfer window, something Rafa Benitez has long called for in the North East.

A takeover with Mourinho in charge could see the Toon emerge as a similar version of Wolves, with the coach tapping into his agent Jorge Mendes' clients.

That could see the potential for a return for Radamel Falcao to the Premier League.

Here is how Toon could line up…

JOSE MOURINHO would be willing to talk to Newcastle's prospective new owners about taking over as the club's manager, according to reports.

Current boss Rafa Benitez is out of contract at the end of June and it is still unclear whether he will put pen to paper on an extension.

As revealed by SunSport, billionaire Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan is close to buying the club from Mike Ashley.

Terms have been agreed and the Bin Zayed Group told SunSport a proof of funds statement was sent to Ashley's lawyers in April.

But despite the new owners set to boost the spending power in the transfer window, it may not be Benitez who reaps the rewards.

The Sheikh may decide to get rid of the Spaniard – who is adored by the Toon faithful – and bring in his own manager.

And according to the Sunday Mirror, he is keen on former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Mourinho.

MANCHESTER UNITED could be back in for Antoine Griezmann – but the striker is keeping schtum over who he will join after deciding to quit Atletico Madrid.

With the plug permanently pulled on any Barcelona transfer, Griezmann has several clubs battling for his signature.

The France striker has revealed he knows exactly who he plans to join this summer – but has asked fans for time before he discloses his next destination.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly desperate to make him one of his first signings in his Old Trafford shake-up.

Griezmann, 28, will leave Atletico this summer after five years at the La Liga club.

And in an interview in France while on international duty, he revealed: “I know where I want to go, and the sacrifices I have to make to get there.

“I just ask for a little patience.

“As soon as I could say it, it will be with pleasure.”

Meanwhile, Samuel Umtiti has dealt Arsenal a blow declaring he has no intention of quitting Barcelona.

The French international has been high on Unai Emery's shopping list as he looks to shore up his leaky defence this summer with the futures of Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi unclear.

Umtiti, 25, moved to the Nou Camp from Lyon three years ago but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up.

The defender made just 15 appearances for Ernesto Valverde’s side with reports the Catalan giants are ready to move him on.

But Umtiti revealed after France’s shock 2-0 loss against Turkey he is happy with his lot in Spain.

He said: “I have a contract, I feel happy in Barcelona.

“I had a complicated season but that's not a reason to have desires elsewhere.”
