Man City tell £42m flop defender Mangala he can leave on FREE transfer… just four months after signing new contract – The Sun

MANCHESTER CITY are ready to let flop defender Eliaquim Mangala leave the club on a FREE TRANSFER.

That's just four months after the French defender signed a bizarre one-year extension to his contract.

The 28-year-old has only featured in 57 games for City since he was bought for £42million from Porto in 2014.

That means that the Premier League champs have shelled out a whopping £1,052,632 for each of those appearances.

He has also pocketed over £20m in wages during his time in the North West.

And now according to the MailOnline, Etihad chiefs are ready to let him leave for nothing.

He has not travelled on the club's pre-season tour of Asia, which began with a 4-1 thrashing of league rivals West Ham on Wednesday.

Record signing Rodri made his City debut as the champions began their preparations with a comfortable win in China.

A Mark Noble penalty gave the Hammers an early lead in the Premier League Asia Trophy clash in Nanjing but David Silva equalised.

Lukas Nmecha, who spent last season on loan at Preston, put City ahead from the penalty spot before a Raheem Sterling double in the second half.

City only arrived in China 24 hours earlier after two scheduled planes were grounded, but it did not take long for Pep Guardiola's side to start flying.

His side face Wolves in the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy on Saturday looking to add another trophy to their ever-growing collection.
