JESSE LINGARD’S future is up in the air at Manchester United.
But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the club are eager to extend the attacking midfielder’s contract.
Lingard has lately been linked with surprise moves to Barcelona and AC Milan while West Ham wanted him back after a successful loan spell last season.
But now Solskjaer has signalled the Red Devils intend to extend Lingard’s contract before it expires in the summer.
He said: "We want to prolong his contract because we see him as an important player for us.
"It's up to him – and maybe up to me – to give him more playing time because he deserves to.
"Hopefully, we can get a deal sorted for Jesse because we really rate him."

Lingard has endured an up-and-down few years at Old Trafford.
He admitted he felt ‘as low as I’d ever been’ after struggling to shake off a groin injury that plagued him into last season.
A lack of playing time saw him make a loan move to the Hammers in January 2020.
But the 28-year-old failed to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020 despite a successful stint in east London.
He is now understood to be assessing his options with new arrivals such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho adding competition for places at United.
