And they have got the jitters because punters are ready to smash-up the red-hot jollies Frankly Darling, Mogul and Battaash.
Rambo would struggle to stop that talented trio and the layers are bracing themselves for a monster pay-out if the short-priced treble is landed.
Paddy Power’s man on the spot Paul Binfield is fearing the worst and said: “The opening day of the extravaganza looks tricky with Frankly Darling, Mogul and Battaash being the three most likely winners.
“We’re expecting multiple mayhem with plenty of trebles and it will be an early body blow to the bookies if they justify their market position.”
Mind you, I’m told top-jock Danny Tudhope reckons he might do the layers a favour on outsider Space Traveller in the Queen Anne Stakes (1.50).
Richard Fahey’s flyer nicked the Jersey Stakes at 25-1 here last year and my pals up north tell me dead-eyed Danny thinks this is his best chance of the week.
The horse’s canny connections reckon he can nick a Group 1 soon, so it’s odds-on they will be burgling the 16s on offer this morning.
Every punter worth his salt knows Frankie Dettori is the guv’nor at Ascot and the great man has been installed 6-4 jolly to be leading jockey at the meeting.
Funtime Frankie has got a blinding book of rides and some heavy hitting Billy Bunters have already lumped on his mount Daarik in the Buckingham Palace Handicap (1.15).
This rascal makes less appearances than Lord Lucan, but the Newmarket gallop watchers give the gelding a big thumbs-up and expect him to collect.
Meanwhile, a reliable French connection says Frankie should go close on Francis-Henri Graffard’s Wasmya in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (4.10).
She was hammered when the ante-post markets opened and some shrewd faces close to the filly are more than hopeful.
BLUE LAUREATE (4.40) ran a cracker at Haydock Park the other day and has a blinding each-way chance. He’s ridden by `boy wonder’ Cieren Fallon and looks the business.
