Bradley Walsh left baffled by The Chase contestant’s ‘unbelievable’ wrong answer

The Chase host Bradley Walsh was left baffled over a contestant's wrong answer during Monday's episode.

Bradley, 60, was in disbelief as a contestant, named Peter, suffered a blunder during his round against Anne Hegerty.

The question was: "On a dining table, which of these would you typically find in a cruet?"

Peter was given the multiple-choice options of "Salt, Gravy or Flowers," to choose from.

He selected flowers, and host Bradley was baffled as the answer was in fact, salt.

Bradley said: "Flowers?" as he smirked and shook his head.

Peter defended himself as he said: "I don't know what a cruet is."

The presenter exclaimed: "It's unbelievable isn't it. How old are you?", and the contestant responded: "33."

Bradley said: "Wow. That is amazing", as he couldn't hide how flabbergasted he was over the mistake.

Viewers went into meltdown on Twitter, as one wrote: "Bradley's taking no prisoners today."

While another penned: "How can you not know what a cruet holds??!!"

A third added: "This geezer is hopeless".

Others defended Peter, as they said they didn't know what a cruet was either.

One remarked: "To be fair, I've never heard of cruet either. Why not just call it a salt shaker like every other normal person."

"Never heard of a cruet but I got it correct", said another.

Ross and Peter were the only two players to make it through to the final chase.

Despite their best efforts, they were caught by quizzing extraordinaire Anne.

This meant they went home empty-handed.

Anne, known on the show as The Governess, usually comes out on top on the ITV show, but she does occasionally make mistakes too.

During last Thursday's episode, she was defeated by the team of players who walked away with £5,000 each.

As the players celebrated their win, Anne said: "I made a few slip-ups but they played very well.

"I should have known some of them questions."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
