The owner of Chanel the African Grey parrot broke down in tears as she begged for her beloved pet’s safe return on This Morning.
Sandra Hannah went viral last year after sharing a video of herself screaming Chanel’s name on the streets of Liverpool.
Thankfully, less than a day later, Chanel was returned safely after making her way to the nearby canal.
However, speaking to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, mum-of-four Sandra broke down in tears as she revealed that this time around, it has been three days with no sign of Chanel.
“She was out of her cage but she was upstairs, it had been raining all day, and my son just wanted to play outside on his bike,” she explained.
“So I went out to get the bike, shut the door behind me, and was waiting for him in the street.
“He came out straight after me and left the door open and I didn't check. And then she just flew out.”
Ruth tried to console the devastated Sandra, who openly wept as she spoke about her beloved pet, saying she had never been away from home for so long.
“She's so tame and she'll be so scared now so she'll just be wanting to try and get anywhere safe. If anyone sees her, take a picture because we've been driving around everywhere we had that many false things,” the heartbroken pet owner said.
“Just take a picture, shout her name and put your hand out, and she'll just come on you.”
As Eamonn and Ruth sent their apologies, Sandra added: “She's like my fifth child. For three years, it's just been me and her.
"Every single morning she sits on my shoulder while I have my coffee before anyone gets up, shares my coffee with me – she even tries to get in my cup.”
She also encouraged anyone who might have seen Chanel to contact her on Instagram.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
