Disney+ has ended up being a major force in the streaming world, thanks to their acquisitions of major brands like Marvel, National Geographic and Fox. While some of these have their own channels on the platform, others have now been grouped into the new channel, Star, which will also see items from US site Hulu join the content roster. Express.co.uk breaks down all the new movies coming to Disney+ and its various channels in March.

Raya and the Last Dragon – available to stream from March 5

Raya and the Last Dragon, while available on the platform, is only available as part of Disney+ premier access, meaning fans will have to pay to watch it.

The film is the latest Disney animated film starring Kelly Marie Tran in the title role and Awkwafina as Sisu, the dragon of the title.

Gemma Chan, Benedict Wong and Alan Tudyk have supporting voice roles.

The official synopsis reads: “Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Raya and the Last Dragon travels to the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together in harmony long ago.

“But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity.

“Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people.

“However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.”

Gnomeo & Juliet – available to stream from March 26

While this isn’t a new film, it is new to Disney Plus and is a firm family favourite.

The movie tells a well known Shakespearean story about warring families and star crossed lovers, but with a far happier ending and hilarious garden gnomes taking the place of the usual characters.

The voice cast includes names like James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Sir Michael Caine and Jason Statham, among others.

Own the Room – available to stream from March 12

A National Geographic documentary, Own the Room follows five students competing for their business to win at a prestigious event in Macau, China.

The official synopsis reads: Own the Room chronicles five students from disparate corners of the planet as they take their budding business ventures to Macau, China, to compete in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.

“Santosh is from a small farming town in Nepal; Alondra works the register at her family’s bakery in Puerto Rico; Henry is a programming wiz from Nairobi; Jason is a marketing machine from Greece; and Daniela, an immigrant fleeing the crisis in Venezuela, is taking on the chemical industry from her lab at NYU.

“In the uplifting film, each of the business hopefuls has overcome immense obstacles in pursuing their dreams, from hurricanes to poverty to civil unrest.

“As they represent their countries as the top student entrepreneurs, the high-stakes global finals are their opportunity to win worldwide attention and the coveted $100,000 grand prize to make their life-changing business ideas a reality and transform the world.”

Assembled: The Making of WandaVision – available to stream from March 12

While technically not a film, but a film in a docu-series, Assembled will feature new Marvel TV series and show exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of how they were made.

Big MCU fans may even hope to get some clues about elements of the show which could give clues about upcoming series and movies, all of which operate in one big universe.

An Assembled documentary will come with every Marvel TV show featured on Disney+, including Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
