WARNING: This story contains major spoilers for Lupin part 2
Does Raoul die in Lupin?
Lupin is a popular French drama series following the mischievous Assane Diop, who was inspired by the gentleman thief Arsène Lupin.
The title character takes on the persona of the fictional master of disguise in order to take down antagonist Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre).
At the end of the first season, Assane’s son Raoul was taken by Leonard (Adama Niane) – one of Pellegrini’s men.
The second season recalls the kidnapping and sees Leonard drive Raoul to an abandoned house.
Meanwhile, detective Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab) teamed up with Assane to help catch the antagonist.
They managed to track Leonard down and Assane went in to retrieve his son. However, Leonard had set a trap.
He made Assane believe his son was in the house when really he was locked in the boot of Leonard’s car.
He then set fire to the car with Raoul still inside, and the boy was left screaming out for help.
By the time Assane realised, it was too late, and he was seen crying hysterically as he was arrested by police.
Fans thought Raoul had really died in the burning vehicle, but a huge twist followed.
While Assane was busy dealing with Leonard, Youssef had heard Raoul’s screams and had rescued him just in time.
The pair ran away, with Leonard shooting at them, and they managed to escape in Youssef’s car.
The detective was asked to take Raoul to a hotel, and little did he know it was another setup.
Pellegrini was hoping to use Raoul as leverage to get hold of Assane, who had once again escaped from police.
But, with Assane knowing plenty of tricks, he was able to rescue his son from the hotel and return him to his mother.
Still, trouble followed him as he had no idea Pellegrini’s men were waiting back at Claire’s (Ludivine Sagnier) house for him.
Claire, feeling sorry for her former partner, warned Assane to run and he realised she was not alone in the house.
This takes the attention away from Raoul, as Pellegrini’s main focus is to track down Assane, who is now on the run.
With this in mind, fans will be pleased to hear Raoul does not die in the second season.
With a third instalment already confirmed, fans will be wondering what happens to Raoul moving forward.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest season, with one saying: “SOMEONE TELL ME SOMEHOW RAOUL IS ALIVE PLS DONT DO THIS TO ME.” [Sic]
Another said: “Damn lupin first episode gave me chills at the end. I want to believe Raoul survived somehow.”
They were thrilled when Raoul was finally back with his father, with another fan saying: “RAOUL AND ASSANE ARE TOGETHER FINALLY.” [Sic]
The addictive series has once again gone down a huge hit with fans and they are already excited for the release of the third season.
