Donald Trump coronavirus: Unwanted scenario President will seek to avoid at all costs

Donald Trump confirmed he will be quarantining alongside wife Melania Trump after the presidential couple tested positive to the coronavirus on Thursday evening. Mr Trump’s physician insisted the US leader is well, with FLOTUS stating in a tweet she and the president are “feeling good.” Speaking to Good Morning Britain, broadcaster Iain Dale said President Trump will try to recover completely from COVID-19 to keep his leading critic Nancy Pelosi from taking over the White House.

Nancy Pelosi, the Democrat Speaker of the House, is currently third in the line of command after President Trump and vice-president Mike Pence.

White House staffers and senior members of Government are likely to also undego coronavirus tests in the coming hours after the President’s diagnosis.

The presidential line of succession is currently outlined in amendements 12th, 20th and 25th  as well as Artcile II of the US Constitution.
