DANCING with the Stars host Tyra Banks shut down the show's fans who slammed her Britney Spears schoolgirl look on this week's episode by posing in another outfit inspired by the pop star.
On Wednesday morning, the former America's Next Top Model judge, 47, posted sexy behind-the-scenes photos of her snake dress from the evening on Instagram- after she was attacked for "stumbling" over her words on live TV and her "bizarre" dresses.
The host defended her green dress with a gold snake around her neck and waist, similar to what Britney once wore in her Slave 4 U music video.
Tyra captioned her post: "When you adore someone, you celebrate them big time.
"I adore you @britneyspears and felt honored to have @ericarchibald and @nataliabarzilai interpret your iconic genius on @dancingabc this week.
"Imitation is the best form of flattery cuz we all know there's just one YOU."
Yesterday, Tyra posted her Britney school girl look on Instagram with a similar caption: "No one can do it like the legend Britney Spears, but you know I sure as hell tried!"
Fans chimed in that Tyra was trying too hard with her fashions, and not hard enough on the actual hosting.
One fan fired off: "She's taking the attention from the dancers… we should not be tweeting about her bad wardrobe choices."
A second stated: "Also someone tell Tyra #DWTS isn't about her & her questionable costume choices."
Yet another critic added: "Tyra makes every little thing about her.
Others called for ABC to fire her and bring back fired hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, who ended their run in 2020 when they were replaced by Tyra.
STICK TO THE SCRIPT
Even with her extensive experience in competition shows, Tyra has still made a number of embarrassing fumbles, as DWTS ratings have hit a new low.
Tyra's biggest flop came from an awkward on-screen cue-card mistake as she read the wrong names for the bottom two contestants last season.
The DWTS crew was reportedly furious after Tyra "blamed" them for the mistake
However, the TV personality was allegedly unfazed.
A source said: "She tunes out the noise and doesn't listen to social media critiques."
