EastEnders’ Lacey Turner shocked over backlash of second pregnancy

Lacey Turner was left shocked by the backlash over her second pregnancy.

The EastEnders actress confirmed her happy baby news in September, a year after welcoming daughter Dusty with husband Matt Kay.

However, while most fans are thrilled for the Stacey Slater star, 32, some have taken aim at her decision to take a second bout of maternity leave.

And Lacey revealed the fury had taken her by complete surprise – as she only found out by watching a previous discussion over the comments on Loose Women.

Appearing on today’s instalment of the ITV show, she told the panel: ‘I had no idea. I was actually watching Loose Women, I was with my dad in the kitchen, I was like, “Hold on a minute dad, I need to listen to this, what’s going on?” I had no idea.

‘Because I don’t read anything about myself, and I’ve put things on Instagram every now again. I maybe see the short bit that you see underneath, I don’t really get a chance to read all the comments, they all just were lovely, the bits underneath.

‘I have no idea until watching your programme.’

When Lacey eventually looked at the comments, she was in shock at the trolls.

But, like a true queen, she has decided to take them as a compliment to her beloved character, Stacey.

‘I had a little look after I found that out. I was in shock, really,’ she continued. ‘I was surprised that…

‘I was trying to figure out why people were so angry. But I have to take it as a compliment.

‘Maybe you miss having Stacey on the Square so much… I’ll just take it as a compliment.

‘I don’t know if people thought I was being paid well, I’m not quite sure what they were angry about.’

The BBC star announced her baby news last month, revealing the news to OK! Magazine.

‘We feel so lucky to be expecting our second baby, as it took so long to get Dusty,’ she said.

‘After last time, we learned the best way was to have the attitude of “if it happens it happens” – and then it did! It was a lovely surprise.

‘It took so long with Dusty, but now they’re coming along like buses! After the heartbreak we went through, it’s a miracle to fall pregnant so quickly.

Loose Women continues on weekdays, at 12.30, on ITV.
