Liv Flaherty (played by Isobel Steele) was killed after being crushed by a caravan during a devastating storm in Emmerdale. Her husband Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) has been lost without her and decided on Thursday’s instalment of the soap it was time to sell the properties he owns in a bid to start afresh. Viewers were left fearing he will be quitting the ITV soap, which will make him the fifth character to be written out of the show since September.
It’s been a difficult few weeks for Vinny who lost the love of his life Liv under tragic circumstances as part of the soap’s 50th-anniversary storyline.
She had a joint funeral with Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) which moved most of the village to tears.
Earlier this week, Vinny scattered Liv’s ashes with the support of his family members, but he has been struggling to come to terms with her death.
On Thursday’s instalment of Emmerdale, Vinny made a decision which could have a huge impact on his future and cause a rift within the Dingle family.
His mother Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) asked Vinny why he has decided to sell the flat he owns in the village.
Mandy said: “Yeah, I understand. It’s memories, some you treasure and some you curse.
“I just wish you’d taken more time because it’s such a big decision, Vin.”
He replied: “I’ve still got all the [stuff] to sort out, I just had to get the ball rolling.”
His mother said he should not make big decisions while he is still grieving over Liv.
“That’s what the estate agent said,” Vinny added as he was reflecting on his impulsive decision.
Mandy suggested he could rent out the flat for a while as she was worried he might regret selling it.
However, Vinny snapped: “I can’t stand it – all these memories, I just want shot of all of it.”
Mandy then realised her son was selling both the flats he owns and she offered him to move in with her.
But Vinny revealed he wanted to move out of the village altogether as he “can’t stand being here anymore” as he cannot stop thinking about Liv.
His comments caused Emmerdale fans to predict Vinny will be exiting the ITV soap in upcoming scenes.
Sulagna tweeted: “Is Vinny exiting the show? #Emmerdale.”
Chris P said: “#Emmerdale, is Vinny gonna leave now? They’re really doing a big hatchet job on what once was a great show with lots of fun in it.”
@Itzzzo remarked: “Hope Vinny isn’t doing something he’ll regret and that is move in with Samson… #Emmerdale.” (sic)
Pam said: “Poor Vinny should slow down and wait a while. He’s still grieving and may act in haste #Emmerdale.”
Doreen Morfitt added: “Is Vinny going to escape from #emmerdale?”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
