Emmerdale star points out ‘uncanny’ resemblance between Darcy Grey and Pierce actor

Emmerdale star Zoe Henry – who plays Rhona Goskirk in the ITV soap – praised the casting of Darcy Grey as Pierce Harris's (Johnny Wrather) son Marcus.

Zoe dubbed the resemblance between the two actors "uncanny" as she gushed about the young actor's talent.

"He is uncannily like Johnny Wrather,” Zoe said. "It’s quite extraordinary!"

"Darcy does have a very strong resemblance to Johnny, which is enormously helpful in telling the story. He's a constant reminder and Rhona doesn’t want that in the village. She doesn’t want to pop into the café and see that stark reminder of her past. She wants to help Marcus but it comes with its boundaries, I guess."

When she was quizzed on what it was like working with Darcy for the first time, Zoe said the experience was "brilliant."

"We had a massive day auditioning with 12 young actors who came in and Darcy really stood out. He brought a vulnerability that we hadn't seen in any of the other auditions," she explained.

"They were all amazing but Darcy was particularly good."

Zoe continued: "He does have a sort of feel of Johnny Wrather about him, which has massively helped."

Darcy – who sold "posh dog food" before securing the role of Marcus – joins Emmerdale to shake up Rhona's world.

Rhona receives a letter from Pierce who reveals he's dying in prison. He wants help finding his son and begs Rhona for her assistance.

Speaking at a recent press event, Zoe admitted that "absolute panic" is going through Rhona's head as the whole saga begins to unfold.

However, she agrees to help Pierce in his mission.

Zoe explained: "She’s a mother, and a daughter, and so she understands about that family connection, and who is she to deny this child of Pierce’s the chance to see him again?"
