Faye Tozer has opened up on her Strictly Come Dancing experience ahead of the launch of the new series.

The 44 year old took part in the hit BBC One dance competition in 2018, becoming a joint runner-up with professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

Steps singer Faye has given the stars of this year's series — who include Maisie Smith, Jamie Laing and Max George — her top tip for the long hours of rehearsals and revealed who she is hoping lifts the glitter ball trophy come Christmas.

Speaking exclusively to OK! online, Faye admitted: "For me, it was probably the biggest challenge I've ever done in my life.

"It's the biggest thing mentally and physically that I've done because of the pressure I put on myself and you never knew whether you were going to get through.

"It was amazing, it was something that I'd dreamt of doing, I knocked on the door for 10 years before they even let me put my name in the hat so it was a dream come true.'"

The Deeper Shade Of Blue hitmaker said she especially excited for the upcoming series as it will see Nicola Adams and Katya Jones become the first same-sex couple.

Faye continued: "I'm really excited to see how they manage it all with lockdown and how it's going to be on telly and I'm very proud that they've finally got a same-sex couple, that's going to be brand new and we should just encourage it."

Discussing this year's line-up, Faye continued: "I don't know anyone personally but I'm very excited about Caroline Quentin because I'm a big fan of hers.

"I think it's a really lovely way for the public to find out about different celebrities. They always have a really nice plethora of people from different parts of the entertainment or sports world. I'm excited to see it.

"It's really hard because everyone's journey is really personal but, for me, I wanted to do it for the physical challenge and I'm just a big fan of dance."
