Geese are determined to halt Coronation Street filming

Coronation Street filming has been halted once this year already, but a flock of wild geese were evidently determined to stop production once more, as they blocked several cast members from getting to the studios.

Yes, a family geese just happened to cross the main road at the entrance of the set, as several cast and crew members arrived.

Foul play is at work!

We kid (kind of).

Tina O’Brien managed to avoid the geese and arrive successfully, but it appears as is Samia Longchambon —who portrays Maria Connor — was stopped in her tracks, so to speak.

The actress seemingly took some snaps, using her phone to capture the humourous moment. If you’re looking for a hashtag Samia, we recommend #GeeseGate.

The ITV serial drama was forced to halt production amid the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year.

In an effort to ensure the soap remained on air for as long as possible, episodes were rationed out at three a week as opposed to the usual six.

In spite of fears that Corrie would go off the air for the second time in history — it was forced to do so once before in 1979 — filming was given the green light to resume earlier this month, which means that it will remain on our screens without the need for a break.

However, social distancing measures have been implemented on set in accordance with government guidelines.

Speaking about the new way of filming, actress Georgia Taylor — who portrays Toyah Battersby in the serial drama — told Lorraine: ‘So a lot of people were messaging me on my first week back asking how is it, are you okay?

‘It’s kind of both strange and familiar, but there’s enough of the familiar to make it okay.

‘So obviously a very different way of working, they’re taking it very seriously, we really feel safe and looked after, it’s just a very way of doing things if you’re playing scenes that are intimate or emotional as I have been doing with Charlie who plays Imran.

‘We have to be really far apart so we have to find a different way of getting those emotions across without holding their hands or touching them.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday 1 July at 7:30pm on ITV.
