Holly and Phillip joke ‘b******s get in way’ with same-sex Dancing on Ice pair

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have returned to present Dancing on Ice yet again this year, 13 years after the series debut.

Making history this year, Ian "H" Watkins will partner up with pro skater Matt Evers as the show's first same-sex couple on the ice.

At Monday's Christmas launch, Holly and Phillip got a taste of things to come as they watched each of the pro skaters hit the rink.

Matt and Ian looked sensational as they entered the rink arm-in-arm, perfecting their routine as they skated around each other.

Afterwards, the duo skated over to hosts Holly and Phillip, reflecting on their performance.

When Ian cheekily explained why the "roll-up lift" was impossible for two men to complete, Phillip announced: "His b******s got in the way!"

Holly was left in stitches over the remark, referring back to it later on once filming had wrapped.

Discussing the same-sex partnership, she said: "It does change the dynamics too, because it's about what they can do, their strengths, their weaknesses."

Smiling at Phillip, she went on: "What they can't do – well, we heard about that!"

The 57-year-old This Morning host replied: "How fascinating that 'that' move, same-sex couples cannot attempt it! Male couples cannot do a 'roll-up' in that style. When H yelped, no one thought."

Holly admitted it was "about time" the show paired a same-sex couple together on the show.

She added: "It's not a token, these two are really, really good together."

Phillip chipped in: "What's lovely about that, it's a big deal when it shouldn't be. So next year when Strictly or whoever does it, it won't be such a big deal. It's the dynamics of this couple how they work together."

The Dancing On Ice Christmas special will air on ITV later this month.
