Lewis Capaldi joked that he deserves a cut of the money if his ex Paige Turley wins Love Island .
The Scottish singer says he had no idea that his ex-girlfriend was going on the hit ITV2 dating show, and admitted that it would have been nice to have a warning.
Lewis, 23, and Paige, 22, dated a few years ago, and it's even rumoured that his hit song Someone You Loved was written about her.
During an appearance on The Edge radio show in New Zealand , Lewis was quizzed about his former lover's appearance in the villa.
He said: "The prize is like £50,000 and I'll be like 'Well, listen. They asked you to go on it right I'm not saying I'm the reason but also… slide me two grand'."
Lewis said he'll be watching the series and rooting for Paige to win.
He added: "I've known her for years, we were 18 when we first met, 19 when we first started going out and 20 when we finished going out.
"It was fairly amicable, the split. She never told me she was going on the show. That would have been a nice heads up! But I mean fair play, good luck to her.
"I'll be f*****g watching it! Aye, I'll be watching it and going, 'Go on Paige! Come on, come on!' And when she's on a date with a boy I'll go, 'Come on! Kiss him!' I hope she wins."
It seems that Lewis has no hard feelings for his ex, but it's been said that their break up left him "gutted" and prompted him to pen the heartbreaking songs that make up his hit album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.
His album was the fastest selling debut of 2019 and won him numerous awards as well as huge fame.
Paige is alleged to have hurt Lewis by cheating on him with his best friend Garry Greig, which has led to some Love Island fans branding her a hypocrite after she spoke of her shock at discovering that the Islander she was coupled up with, Ollie Williams, had cheated on a previous girlfriend a number of times.
Of course, Ollie has since quit the show, saying he felt he couldn't carry on as he still has feelings for someone on the outside world.
* Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
