Lupin: Netflix tease second season of French drama series
Netflix subscribers have been patiently waiting for an update on the second half of their brand new series Lupin since the first five episodes dropped earlier in January. A rough date for season one, part two has finally been announced, though Omar Sy teased his fans on Twitter that they hadn’t been looking hard enough.
Streaming service Netflix has finally confirmed a rough premiere date for the second half of its breakout French crime series, Lupin.
The announcement prompted a cheeky response from series lead Omar Sy, who claimed the release date had been in front of fans for some time.
Sy heads the series as Assane Diop, a master criminal who takes up the mantle of Arsène Lupin to avenge the death of his father.
The series became a surprise hit for Netflix when the first five episodes premiered on Friday, January 8 to instant acclaim.

Now, it’s been revealed the next eight chapters in Lupin’s first instalment will hit screens in summer 2021.
Just like his on-screen persona, Sy channeled the wily gentleman thief in his new Twitter post confirming the impending release of Lupin part two.
He wrote: “The date for Lupin Part 2 was in front of you from the start.
“Or rather on my banner… You saw it, but you didn’t watch it.”
Heading to Omar Sy’s profile, his banner does indeed reveal the upcoming release date; that is, if Twitter users view the whole image.
The banner features a close-up portrait of Sy as Assane Diop, covering his face with the collar of his signature trench coat.
At the bottom, a small caption reads ‘Partie 2, Été 2021’, which was covered by the French star’s profile picture on his Twitter page.
In English, this translates to ‘Part 2, Summer 2021’, which coincides with Netflix’s recent announcement for when the next five episodes will finally become available.

Following the latest updates, some of his followers played along and hit back that the star had only just changed his banner in the last few days.
One user replied with the original image, which didn’t feature the new caption, and said: “For once I save an image that is useful to me for something. It’s not good to lie Omar Sy.”
Still, the trickery is certainly in line with the tone of the series, which sees Sy’s professional criminal perform a series of outlandish heists to outsmart the French police and the Pellegrini crime family.
By the end of the first series, Diop had come face-to-face with his biggest rival in the police, Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab).
Meanwhile, fans had just learned a shocking truth about the apparent suicide of his father, Babakar (Fargass Assandé).
With so many questions left unanswered, it’s no wonder devoted viewers had been pestering both Netflix and Lupin’s lead star for an update on part two.
Although the streaming service hasn’t officially announced the specific month for the new release, fans can rest easy knowing the first season should have concluded by the end of August.
Lupin Season 1, Part 2 will be released in summer 2021 on Netflix.
