Maisie Smith worried about juggling EastEnders with Strictly as final looms

Maisie Smith revealed she is worried about having to juggle filming EastEnders with Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals as the final for the BBC series approaches.

Speaking via video link on Thursday’s The One Show, Maisie, who appeared alongside her dance partner Gorka Márquez, explained that if she stays in the competition she will have even more dances to learn each week, all while filming for the BBC soap.

When asked about how she was coping with both filming and rehearsals, the actress began: ‘I am a busy bee right now, I have just been eating a lot, a lot of coffee and just sleeping as much as I can otherwise I don’t know how I stay awake.

‘Honestly, especially because the next couple of weeks on the show, if we’re still here, you learn two dances and then three dances in a week and film EastEnders at the same time.’

‘I don’t know how I am going to manage it,’ she added.

Maisie, who plays Tiffany Butcher in EastEnders, made a huge comeback on Strictly last weekend, after previously ending up in the bottom two – twice.

For week six of Strictly, the soap star and Gorka performed a Quickstep to When You’re Smiling by Andy Williams.

Following their performance, judges Shirley Ballas and the recently-returned Motsi Mabuse were on their feet, applauding the couple on their impressive routine.

While Craig Revel Horwood remained seated, he also heaped praise on the couple, with just a sprinkle of criticism thrown into his critique.

After two weeks in a row landing in the bottom two, having gone up against singer Max George and actress Caroline Quentin, Maisie was chuffed to receive a high score from the judges.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One and Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday.
