Paddy McGuinness showed up late to his The One Show interview on Thursday as host Ronan Keating joked that it's "not great".

The presenter, 48, was due to appear on the BBC One chat show at the start to talk about A Question Of Sport, where he is joining Sam Quek and Ugo Monye on the revamped panel.

However, as they went to discuss the show, presenters Sam, 32, and Ronan, 44, revealed that Paddy was supposed to be with them as they admitted he was running late.

Sam said: "He was meant to be joining us by the way," to which Ronan added: "But he's not here!"

Olympic hockey champion Sam then joked: "Little bit late, Paddy, we will have something to say about that!"

With Ronan teasing: "Not great, Paddy! Hopefully we will get Paddy up soon…"

However, despite the delayed start, Paddy eventually made his debut via video as Ronan joked: "Paddy, are you there? Finally, there you are… good to see you!"

To which Paddy replied: "Hello!" with Ronan adding: "Welcome to the show!"

It appears Paddy could have been late due to his Soccer Aid training as prior to the BBC One chatshow he had posted updates from the gruelling training, where he is playing as a goalkeeper.

The TV star hasn't had much luck on The One Show and earlier this year he left fans in hysterics after he accidentally hit his head during a live appearance.

Paddy didn't hold back as he yelled "b****y hell" after the accident with host at the time Rylan Clark-Neal forced to apologise for his "language".

Paddy had appeared on the show via his home alongside his Top Gear co-stars Andrew Flintoff and Chris Harris to talk about the BBC motoring show.

Yet during the interview, the presenter leaned back too far and whacked his head to which he yelled: "Ouch, b****y hell!"

With Rylan joking: "We should apologise as well if there was any language there. You alright?" with Paddy rubbing his head and replying: "No!"
