Riviera season 3 has finally landed on Sky Atlantic and NOWTV, but whether or not it will return for another chapter remains up in the air, according to cast member Julia Stiles.
The third chapter of the drama begins one year after the previous series, where Julia’s character Georgia has abandoned the cursed Riviera, leaving all its devastation and damage behind, and has started her life over again, a phoenix from the flames.
Now a rising star in international art restitution, having reinvented herself as Georgina Ryland, she has partnered up with the charismatic and worldly Gabriel (Rupert Graves). Of course, it isn’t long before she finds herself back in trouble…
But the adventures may soon be over for Georgina as Julia has teased the show’s future is uncertain.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, ahead of the new series arriving, she said there have been discussions about whether Riviera could continue.
‘We’re in early talks about it but we need to see how this season goes and we also need to see what happens with the world,’ Julia shared.
‘We certainly have our hopes and ideas of where the show could go but that’s not guaranteed.’
If Riviera does get the green light for season four, it looks like the coronavirus pandemic could pose problems when it comes to filming abroad.
Which, given that the show is based in France and ventured to Italy and South America for season 3, isn’t exactly good news.
‘The biggest challenge or unpredictable factor is when travel restrictions will be eased, and when it will be easier to film in the way we have in the past,’ Julia told us.
‘Right now it would be pretty challenging. Hopefully next year, things will be eased.’
Here’s hoping this isn’t the beginning of the end.
Sky original Riviera series 3 is available to stream on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
