Seth Rogen Says Superbad Is Too Good To Ever Get A Sequel

Seth Rogen has bad news for anyone waiting for a long-overdue Superbad sequel.

It seems as if consumers are craving sequels, remasters, and remakes more than anything else right now. Disney is offering up live-action remakes of its classic movies, making $1 billion a time from some of them. Games from the 90s and early 2000s are getting serious upgrades, and even Borat will get a sequel later this month when Borat 2 lands on Amazon Prime.

It really does feel as if nothing is off-limits right now when it comes to something being dragged from the past into the present. That has led to fans of various franchises pleading for their personal favorites to return on social media. Anyone who has hopped on the Superbad sequel bandwagon might want to bring a book, as even though it has been 13 years since the original, there are no plans for a follow-up.

Seth Rogen sat down with Ladbible and revealed that no matter how much fans of the movie might want it, a Superbad sequel isn’t going to happen. Rogen said of all the movies he has ever had a hand in making, that’s the one he would “100% probably” never touch, leaving the faintest glimmer of hope for anyone who does want to see the movie remade or followed up on.

Whenever a movie is remade or a sequel is added to a franchise, there’s a risk that its legacy will be ruined. That’s what worries Rogen when it comes to Superbad. Apparently, students still come up to him today and tell him that they’ve just seen the movie for the first time and it holds up. Impressive for a movie of that genre which is well over a decade old at this point.

Despite Rogen’s adamant comments that there will be no sequel, those who want one will never give up hope. Rogen could have categorically said that there is no chance of Superbad ever getting a follow-up and people still wouldn’t believe him. For anyone looking to scratch their Superbad itch, they currently have no other choice than to go back and watch the original.
