Holland stunned his fans this week by posting the title of the upcoming third film in his Marvel series. The 24-year-old actor posted a green version of the Spider-Man logo on his Instagram account which read: “Phone Home.” The actor captioned the image: “So excited to announce the new Spider-Man title. Can’t wait for you lot to see what we have been up to. Love from Atlanta.” Ned actor Batalon also posted the film’s title – but it was entirely different.

Batalon revealed a silver and blue Spider-Man logo with the added words “Home-Wrecker”. The 24-year-old also confirmed this was the “real” title for the film, captioning: “We’re so excited to share the TITLE of our new movie!!”

Zendaya joined the fray with her own version of the Spider-Man logo, but this time in pink. The title read: “Spider-Man: Home Slice.” The 24-year-old star added: “So excited to announce the new Spider-Man title. So proud of this one… FOS is back!”

Although these multiple titles don’t give away too much at first glance, they may be hinting towards the villains Peter Parker will be facing off against.

Spider-Man 3 has been reported to include previous Spider-Men Maguire and Garfield.

The new logos may signify the return of some big players from Maguire and Garfield’s cinematic universes.

The “Phone Home” logo is painted a sickly green, which lines up with the colour scheme of Green Goblin. Willem Dafoe originally played the villain opposite Maguire in 2002’s Spider-Man and has also been said to return to the series.

The silver and blue “Home-Wrecker” logo is similar to the colours of Electro – the main villain from Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Zendaya’s pink “Home Slice” logo does not yet match up with any known Spider-Man villains, but may instead reference a new villain to come.

Although all signs point to Garfield and Maguire returning, Holland himself recently denied these claims when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The actor said: “It would be amazing if they were because they haven’t told me that yet and I am Spider-Man and I’ve read the script from beginning to the end.

“It would be a miracle if they could have kept that from me, but at the moment, there is no cameo from the two boys.”

Electro is the most likely villain to make an appearance in Spider-Man 3 after actor Jamie Foxx announced his comeback in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The actor posted some concept art of three Spider-Men taking on an enormous Electro and captioned it: “Tell Spidey let’s run it back!… Super excited to part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new instalment.

“Can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!! But a thousand percent bad**s!!!” (sic)

Alfred Molina has also been reported to reprise his role as Doctor Octopus in the film. He last played Doc Ock in 2004’s Spider-Man 2.

Members of the current MCU have been confirmed to arrive in the film, including Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

Disney Plus show WandaVision has been tampering with the rules of reality thus far, so her involvement is not altogether surprising.

But considering she is fighting to break down reality and keep her husband, Vision (Paul Bethany) alive, Wanda certainly looks like more of an antagonist than expected.

Spider-Man 3 is due for release on December 17, 2021.

The Avengers films are available to watch on Disney Plus.
