Strictly Come Dancing 2021 news -Adam Peaty's mum reignites fix row as fans swoon over Kai’s ‘famous’ dad

ADAM Peaty’s mum Caroline has reignited the Strictly fix row with claims that Rhys, AJ and Rose ‘are being kept on show because they all work for the BBC.’

It comes after she spoke out after her son Adam, 26, became the sixth celeb to be eliminated from the show last Sunday.

Caroline Peaty liked a Tweet where a fan suggested some of the contestants were being 'kept in' the show because they worked for the BBC.

The fan wrote: "@bbcstrictly @adam_peaty @Mrs_katjones @mrdanwalker You do realise AJ, Rhys, Rose all work for the BBC, yeah."

Meanwhile, fans were left stunned over the weekend after they learned dancer Kai Widdrington's dad is football manager Tommy Widdrington.

    Shirley Ballas speaks out

Shirley Ballas has revealed that she often suffers in silence “like a lot of women”, even before she was found to have an abnormally high level of testosterone.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 61, was recently told by her doctor following tests that the level of testosterone in her body was “that of a man”.

In an interview with Times 2, Ballas has admitted that before this news she had been hiding for months that she felt permanently tired, suffered insomnia and found it difficult to lose weight.

She told the paper: “For a while I’ve felt I have to push my buttons to get going.

“But then suddenly it’s ‘lights, camera, action’ and I put this mask on because that’s your job.”

    Revealed: the Strictly judges pay

Craig Revel Horwood and his fellow judge Bruno Tonioli reportedly earn £110,000 each series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Former head judge Len Goodman made £120,000 for work on the judging panel, but the star made his last appearance on the show in December 2016.

His replacement Shirley Ballas is suspected to earn the same as her predecessor, however her pay is currently unknown.

The judges make significantly more than the professional dancers, who are said to earn around £30,000 per series.

During an Instagram Q&A a fan asked Adam if he had learned any Russian.

He joked: “I’ve learned loads. I just cannot connect it together.”

He was able to string together Hello, thank you, music and Katya’s fun name – in Russian.

    Strictly is ‘a total farce’

AXED Katya Jones says her partnership with Adam Peaty was so good they could have got to the Strictly final, while his mum lashed out at the judges’ “unfair” scoring.

The Russian pro, 32, was overheard backstage complaining bitterly about their low marks before they were booted off, ranting: “We could’ve gone all the way in this contest!”

She and Olympic swimming legend Adam, 26, were instead left in floods of tears after losing the dance-off shown on Sunday.

His mum Caroline called the show “a total farce” after Adam ended up bottom behind a string of BBC presenters and stars, including Dan Walker who they regularly outscored.

She said: “Total fix and I’m not buying the public vote. I believe in fairness, it’s frustrating when you can see from the start that it isn’t, that is all.”

Celebs still left in the contest include EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and Beeb presenters Rhys Stephenson and AJ Odudu.

    That’s one famous dad!

STRICTLY Come Dancing fans were left stunned over the weekend after they learned dancer Kai Widdrington’s dad is football manager Tommy Widdrington.

The 26-year-old and his celebrity partner AJ Odudu were being interviewed by show host Claudia Winkleman after their impressive Charleston when the camera panned to Kai’s father in the audience.

After showing Tommy on-screen, viewers of the BBC ballroom stalwart instantly recognised him due to his famous sports background.

One penned: “I love aj and kai so much that Charlestown was brilliant, they’re so hot, plus his dad works for my football team so we have to stan them for that !!! #Strictly”.

“Tommy Widdrington Kai’s dad. Director at Bristol Rovers Football club @Official_BRFC,” another simply wrote.

While another cheekily commented: “Kai’s dad is a DILF. Pass it on #Strictly”.

Craig Revel-Horwood reveals new ‘curse’ is sweeping Strictly this year

CRAIG Revel Horwood has revealed a new “curse” has threatened Strictly Come Dancing this year – and it’s nothing like the usual one.

Judge Craig, 56, touched on the recent eliminations from the competition, pointing out the similarities in the circumstances.

He said: “I do get why people are talking about Strictly‘s new ‘curse’ – celebs getting voted off having missed a week.

“We had it happen to Ugo Monye after his back injury, Judi Love after testing positive for Covid.”

And Craig had some simple advice for the remaining contestants. He told Best: “I say, don’t miss a week if you can avoid it! As they say in showbiz, don’t go off stage – there’s always someone else in the wings, waiting to take your place…”

Strictly fans left baffled that Dan Walker still in contest despite poor scores

STRICTLY fans have been left baffled that Dan Walker is still in the contest — despite regularly being at the wrong end of the leaderboard.

The BBC Breakfast host, 44, and partner Nadiya Bychkova, 32, have finished in the bottom three for three weeks in a row.

But despite some scathing remarks from judges they have never ended up in the dance-off, for which dancers are selected in a combination of a public vote and judges’ scores.

In contrast, axed Adam Peaty and Katya Jones gradually improved and finished second from top in week four, with a total score of 32.

The inconsistency has prompted a backlash from viewers. One tweeted: “Adam is miles better and deserved to stay.

“It should have been Dan and Nadiya eliminated — it’s an absolute joke.”

Dan, Sara, Tilly all favourites for Strictly axe this weekend

Dan, Sara and Tilly are in a tight battle at the bookies to face the next elimination from Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Breakfast host edges the betting at odds of 2/1, with Sara and Tilly close behind at 9/4 apiece.

Rhys is rated as a 6/1 chance to leave next, while it would be a surprise at 20/1 if Tom was to exit the show this weekend.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “As we get to the business end of the competition it’s proving difficult to pick which celebrity will be eliminated. Dan is the worthy favourite to leave next given his poor scoring still, but with a loyal BBC fanbase voting to save him it could well be Tilly or Sara that’s axed

Dan ‘should have been sent home’

Fuming fans say they believe Dan should have been sent home on Sunday night’s show.

One wrote: “Really hope Dan will go home next week. Sorry Dan.”

A second added: “On a real talk, how the hell is Dan still in the competition?”

    Strictly scheduling blunder

Fans were not happy they missed the start of Strictly as instead of hitting our screens at 7.10pm, last night’s show kicked off at 6.45pm.

With Adam Peaty opening the show, and Rose Ayling-Ellis following, disappointed viewers were furious to have missed their routines when they tuned in at the usual time.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “OMG what time did Strictly start?? I’ve missed half the show!”

Another added: “Of course I tuned into #strictly 15 mins late and missed Adam Peaty…”

A third grumbled: “Why is #Strictly on at a different time every week?!”

Adam Peaty’s time on Strictly comes to an end

Olympian Adam Peaty recently swapped the swimming pool for the dance floor to take part in the 19th series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The judges Adam and partner Katya Jones were awarded 27 points on Saturday night after their 50s-themed jive.

But sadly his time on the show came to an end after he lost out to a place in the programme following a close dance-off with Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin on Sunday night.

Yesterday The Sun revealed that his dance partner Katya had a backstage meltdown moments before they were both booted off the programme. The Russian pro dancer ranted about their low scores from the judges.

A TV insider said: “Katya was absolutely furious during filming not just because the dance hadn’t gone as well as they hoped but by the low marks they received. Both Katya and Adam were in tears after a week in which they’d thrown their all into getting the routine right.

“And though it hadn’t gone perfectly, both of them were shocked at being at the bottom of the scoreboard and finding themselves in the dance-off after the public vote. So getting shown the door on Sunday was utterly devastating.”

Tilly Ramsay ‘could bank a million over next couple of years’

She may have had to fight for her place on Strictly tonight, but Gordon Ramsay’s daughter could end up as the real winner of the show.

Insiders believe Tilly, 20 today could make a fortune.

A source told The Sun: “Tilly’s popularity has soared since she started on Strictly and, if she is clever, she could bank a million over the next couple of years.

“She has had loads of offers for endorsements and brand partnerships because companies can see how much appeal she has — especially because of the graceful way she has dealt with being shamed over her body.

“Tilly’s TikTok account has also grown since she joined Strictly, along with her profiles on Instagram and Twitter, and she has now got 9.6million followers on TikTok alone.”

Craig previously said Strictly curse was ‘a blessing’

Craig previously opened up about the so-called Strictly curse, saying that he actually sees it as a blessing!

Over the past 19 series, a number of celebrities have split from their partners after appearing on the show – notably including Stacey Dooley breaking up with her partner of three years and getting together with pro Kevin Clifton, and Neil and Katya Jones separating after she was pictured kissing Seann Walsh.

But Craig said: “I look forward to the curse every year because I never think of it as a curse, I always considered that a blessing.

“It’s better meeting someone at work isn’t it? Someone you are dancing with and getting to know and fall in love.

“Rather that than a dating app. That’s how everyone has to meet these days.”

Dan Walker leaves co-stars stunned as he tells them to ‘shut up’ during Strictly chat

BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker left his co-stars stunned after he told them to ‘shut up’ during a Strictly chat.

The 44-year-old journalist is currently taking part in the BBC One dancing show, and is partnered with pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova.

Ahead of his Strictly co-star Tom Fletcher’s appearance on today’s show, Dan got excited as he talked to co-host Sally Nugent about the programme.

When Sally praised Tom’s Paso Doble with partner Amy Dowden on Saturday night, Dan replied: “Really good! I think they were one of my favourite acts from the night actually.”

He then went on to discuss the couple’s traditional Paso outfits and wracked his brains for what he wore when he did that style of dance. He suddenly said: “I had to dress up like…gladiator!”

Sally replied: “Of course you did! Aww! Well let’s go straight to Carol, enough of all this Strictly chat. Morning Carol.”

As the camera widened to include Carol Kirkwood in front of her screen ready to do the weather, Dan joked: “Shut up you two, Carol what’s the weather like?”

Slightly taken aback, Carol then replied with a laugh: “Dan you cheeky thing.”
