Robert Webb has thrilled Strictly Come Dancing fans with his first two routines but the actor is struggling to get to grips with the Quickstep. As a result, his professional partner Dianne Buswell has had to simplify the steps to ensure he can perform for Saturday’s Movie Week. The pair will be following the theme of The Muppet Show so will be wanting their routine to be perfect in order to avoid elimination.
Robert and Dianne finished fourth from the bottom of the leaderboard after weeks two putting them in danger of the dreaded dance off.
While they were saved by the public vote, it seems the pressure is getting to Robert.
The Peep Show star admitted he was close to tears as he tried to perfect the latest routine and Dianne stepped in to help out.
“There is a bit, I could not get it at all and I was almost weeping as it’s so intense,” he explained.
“It is like ‘I have got to do this on Saturday. I am never going to do this bit’.
“Dianne simplified it for me. She says, ‘It works better. It fits the music better.’
“It is all lies – she has just made it easier because I could not do the bit I found hard,” he continued to Mirror Online.
The 49-year-old went on to admit the “jury was out” over whether he is having fun on the series so far.
It comes after Robert explained he didn’t understand why everyone at Strictly was obsessed with his packed lunch.
It Takes Two host Janette Manrara remarked: “You have a very interesting way of bringing your sandwiches to rehearsal.”
“What is this?” Robert exclaimed. “Can a man not just make himself a sandwich without being accused of being adorable?”
Janette replied: “No don’t worry, we’ve got you something even more adorable.
“Dianne, will you please do the honours? Check behind pillowcase number one.”
The professional dancer went on to pull out a glittery lunchbox with a photo of the couple on the front.
“Oh my God! That is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen,” Dianne exclaimed.
Robert was hesitant: “That is lovely, are you sure you don’t want it?”
When he was told to put his sandwiches in it, Robert replied: “I certainly will. Is this glitter going to come off? No, it’s fine – it’s actually very well-made.
“I will treasure this, my very own Strictly lunchbox. That’s it, I’ve peaked. I really will go home now.”
Robert’s odds of winning the series currently stand at 14/1 while Katie McGlynn is set to exit at 5/2 to be eliminated.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 6.45pm.
