Teen Mom's Ryan Edwards insists he's just ‘exhausted’ after ex Maci Bookout’s husband accuses him of relapsing on drugs

TEEN Mom OG dad Ryan Edwards insisted he’s just ‘exhausted’ after his baby mama Maci Bookout’s husband, Taylor McKinney, accused him of relapsing on drugs on the reunion.

On part one of the Teen Mom OG reunion, Maci’s husband Taylor said he believes Ryan is not sober after watching struggle to stay awake during scenes.

Ryan, 33, has struggled with heroin abuse, as he has been in and out of rehab and jail over the years.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Ryan insisted he is sober today.

He said: “I can see why he made the comment, but really I was just exhausted 99 percent of the time.

“Staying up all night then helping Mackenzie with kids in the day. That’s in between going back to the garage building my buggy to try and get it done for King of the Hammers off-road race.”

Ryan, who shares Bentley, 12, with Maci and Jagger, 2, Stella, 1, and stepson Hudson with wife Mackenzie, builds and fabricates buggy cars for off-road races.

He added: “There were many nights I would work so long, I would just sit down for 15-20 min in the shop and nap for that long and get back to it.

“Imagine hand-building and fabricating everything you see on a car by yourself in a little less than a year. Covid ended up getting in the way too much and I didn’t get it done in time, but we will get there next year!”

On the reunion, Taylor said when asked if he believes Ryan is sober: "No I don’t. This is our opinion. It’s based on when he shows up to something or when you see him sitting there in a scene and he can’t hardly keep his eyes open.

“That’s not a place I feel safe to send our son with that guy.”

As The Sun reported, the Edwards family was fired from Teen Mom OG in March.

Ryan previously told The Sun that being let go was a “blessing in disguise.”

He said: “We are so happy that we are no longer doing it. This is the happiest I’ve been since before I started taking pain killers. It makes me real happy to see my wife so happy so I couldn’t ask for much more.”

Ryan previously told The Sun Maci got the family fired out of “retaliation” after Larry fought with her husband at the reunion.

Ryan told The Sun: “Maci is in fear that my mom and dad will start telling the truth. She will always fight to have us off the show.”

Ryan’s father told The Sun in October that the Teen Mom OG dad is “not allowed” to see Bentley, as the family “hasn’t gotten to see him very much.”

He previously said of Ryan and Maci: “Their relationship hasn’t been going well. It’s not any better. Something came up that she wanted and needed.

“Ryan wasn’t going to comply with everything she wants and needs and we’ve been shut down.

“Bentley right now, we can’t even see him, they’re not even allowed to see him. It is what it is.”

On the most recent season, Bentley refused to see his father until he agreed to go to therapy with him to work on their strained relationship.

Maci, 29, has taken to Twitter to slam Ryan and Mackenzie, who blamed her for Bentley's decision.

When Ryan called Maci a “spiteful evil b***h” because Bentley didn’t want to go to his brother Jagger’s birthday at their home, Maci tweeted: "I really wanted to post some 'petty b*tch' (and hilarious) comments, but I'll wait until they can tell me the definition of 'petty' without googling it and reading it aloud.”

Then, when Mackenzie called Maci a “petty b***h” for keeping Bentley from them on last week's episode, she went off after the episode.

Maci fired: "I’d rather be a petty b***h than a stupid one. #allday.”

On the reunion, Taylor, 32, said: “Bentley is becoming a young man. I think he’s shown the Edwards that he’s found his voice. He can think for himself.”

He said of Ryan: “Ya’ll saw the clip. He sat there and called my wife a b***h. In past seasons the things he’s done to Bentley, poking fun at him, making fun of him, calling him a cry baby. Enough is enough. Grow up and be a man. Don’t be a coward. Come sit out here and sit on the couch with us.

"I think every week when you watch a new episode, you think Ryan can't possibly be any dumber than he is, and he will prove you wrong the next week.

"I mean that guy can really show you how big a piece of s**t he really is.”

Jen and Larry then joined the stage.

Larry said: “You said that we put [Bentley] in an unsafe situation. Never would that ever happen, ever.”

When Larry sat up, Taylor said, “Don’t you buck up to me.”

Taylor then sat up and said: “When you’re forcing [Bentley], when ya’ll are telling him, ‘Go over there and give your dad a hug,’ ‘Go take a picture with your dad,’ Bentley is a child. Stop forcing a relationship on the child. Stop guilt tripping him.

“Ryan has never been there for him. But ya’ll put it on Bentley. Ya’ll make Bentley feel guilty.”

When Larry stood up, Taylor did the same, as both women tried to calm down their partners.

Taylor then said: “You’re a sorry son of a b***h!”

When reunion show host Dr. Drew Pinsky said the fighting is not putting Bentley first, Taylor responded: “I’m sitting here watching their piece of crap son call my wife an evil b***h.”
