THE View's Whoopi Goldberg has joked that the other "hosts look GASSY" in an awkward moment during live TV.

The most recent installment of The View kickstarted with the hosts discussing the inflation crisis and the rise of gas prices.

During the heated debate with guest hosts Chelsea Clinton, 42, and Alyssa Farrah Griffin, 33. Whoopi, 66, explained: "Don't let people b.s. you about what's really going on here.

"You have the right – when you go in to vote – to vote for the people who actually care what's happening with you. You have to keep an eye out for that."

Sunny Hostin, 43, argued: "A lot of these oil companies are in Texas. Lower the prices for Americans.

Before cutting to the commercial break, Whoopi said: " But you know what? We may sound gassy, but we're not."

Alyssa's appearance on the show came after the rumors about a new permanent panelist.

Fans speculated that the former communications director to ex-president Donald Trump might be joining the ABC show full-time to take over the conservative seat from ex-panelist Meghan McCain.

During the show, viewers spotted a mystery man walking around in the corner of the set.

His sudden appearance took place as the Sister Act actress prepared to sign off.

The mystery man appeared to be part of the production crew.

The production crew member was wearing all-black clothes and covered his chin with a face mask.

He appeared on the screen for several seconds, but his presence went unnoticed by Whoopi and her co-hosts.

However, fans noticed the man in the background and jumped online to mock the on-air blunder.

One viewer tweeted: “Who’s this dude?” asked one on Twitter, using #TheView.

Another viewer posted: “Now, wait, did this dude just walk in on the set? Hilarious!”

Meanwhile, Joy Behar, 79, has recently been absent from the show.

Fans have been left in the dark about why she has been missing.

Whoopi told viewers: “Joy is not out with COVID. She's getting over something else, the flu, or maybe she's pregnant, I don't know.”
