Who is Julie Bowen's sister Annie Luetkemeyer?

JULIE Bowen rose to fame in 2009 after being cast as Claire Dunphy on the ABC Sitcom Modern Family.

Fans followed the complicated, messy and full lives of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Delgado-Tucker clan for more than a decade until April 2020 when the hit series finally came to an end.

Who is Julie Bowen's sister Annie Luetkemeyer?

A month before Modern Family's finale, the world was plunged into a global pandemic, something Julie's younger sister Annie knew more about than most.

Annie Luetkemeyer is an infectious disease specialist who works as a Professor at the University of California in San Diego.

During the coronavirus crisis, Annie lead a trial into the efficacy of antiviral drugs against the disease, including Remdesivir.

She's also investigated what happens when a patient with HIV gets Covid-19, having worked on HIV medications earlier in her career.

Luetkemeyer also tries to counter medical misinformation reaching the public.

In response to then-President Donald Trump touting anti-malaria Hydroxychloroquine as a cure for coronavirus, Luetkemeyer urged caution, the need for more trials and warned of potentially harmful side effects.

The two sisters grew up together near Baltimore, Maryland.

They also have another sister, Molly Luetkemeyer, who works as an Interior Designer.

What happened to Minnie John?

The two sisters played the part of good Samaritans when they saw a woman fall during a hike in Utah's Arches Nation Park.

Minnie John, a New Jersey mother, was hiking with her family when she passed out, breaking her nose and her glasses in the process.

Bowen and Luetkemeyer quickly rushed to John's aid, with Luetkemeyer reportedly bandaging her nose as the group waited for further medical assistance.

John told PageSix, "I wasn't even lying there. They saw me fall and immediately got to me and they took care of me."

Minnie added that after regaining consciousness, she realized that one of the women helping her looked familiar: "My eyes are focusing on Julie and I kept saying 'Are you sure I don't know you?'".

She then said the 51-year-old actress took her hair down and asked her to try and guess her identity.

John was later treated at a nearby hospital for a fractured nose and received five stitches.
