WWE: Triple H recovering from procedure after suffering cardiac event

WWE legend Triple H is recovering after undergoing surgery following a ‘cardiac event’.

The 52-year-old company executive and NXT boss is said to have suffered an ‘episode’ which saw him undergo a ‘procedure’ last week, which the promotion has confirmed was due to a ‘genetic’ issue.

In a statement on Wednesday, WWE said: ‘Paul Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, underwent a successful procedure last week at Yale New Haven Hospital following a cardiac event.

‘The episode was caused by a genetic heart issue and Paul is expected to make a full recovery.’

Fans and stars have reacted to the news, with Olympic gold medallist Gable Steveson – who represented Team USA in wrestling this summer and is expected to join WWE in the near future – revealing The Game is in his prayers.

Alongside a heart emoji, he wrote: ‘Praying for my guy.’

One fan tweeted: ‘Thank God Triple H is okay man’.

And another said: ‘Get well soon @TripleH , you absolute legend!’

Triple H himself is yet to issue a public statement as he continues to recover.

The wrestling legend is a sure fire Hall of Famer one day, having had 14 world championship reigns, as well as runs with the Intercontinental, European and tag team titles.

His is also a two-time Royal Rumble winner having triumphed in the iconic match both in 2002 and 2016, and he won the King of the Ring tournament in 1997.

Now, he serves as the leader of WWE’s development brand NXT, and his official title is Executive Vice President, Global Talent Strategy & Development.

Current United States Champion Damian Priest recently revealed he jokingly tried to suggest a match against Triple H at WrestleMania 37 earlier this year.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I make jokes from time to time. Like, hey, Mania – Hunter didn’t have a match, and that was the first time all these legends, none of them [on the show].

‘I was like, “I mean, did you bring your gear? Because you can have a match, I’m right here!” He started laughing and said, “You’re on a list of people that have asked me that.” ‘
